What is the ear-piercing process like at five below?

Five Below has partnered with STUDEX Corporation, recognized as the world’s largest ear-piercing provider for over 40 years. This ensures that getting your ears pierced at five below is safe, sterile, easy, and in compliance with the FDA and health departments across the country. STUDEX provides a touch-free piercing experience that uses an FDA approved medical device instrument (not a piercing gun), sterilized single-use cartridges, and does not require needles.
Our STUDEX certified ear-piercing specialists are trained to educate you through the entire process, including helping you select the right assortment of earrings, positioning your piercing, and reinforcing the importance of aftercare.

How are Five Below ear-piercing specialists trained?

In partnership with STUDEX, our WowCrew piercing specialists are required to complete all training requirements to become a STUDEX certified ear-piercing specialist. Training includes a combination of virtual and in-person education which covers in detail the piercing process, cleanliness & safety protocols. We ensure our STUDEX Certified ear-piercing specialists are 100% ready before piercing clients in store.

What instrument does Five Below use for piercings?

At Five Below, we use STUDEX System 75 for ear piercings. This ear-piercing instrument is a gentle hand-pressured device, which uses a single use cartridge to pierce. Each cartridge contains a single earring that is pre-sterilized for optimal hygiene. Please note we do not use a piercing gun or needle.

Is it safe & sanitary to get my ears pierced at Five Below?

Yes! Five Below uses an FDA approved piercing instrument and sterilized hypoallergenic piercing earrings. All ear-piercing specialists are fully trained and certified in partnership with STUDEX.

How much does it cost to get an ear piercing at Five Below?

Piercings at five below are just $5.55 per lobe plus the cost of the earring and aftercare. We have a range of earring styles and prices from $3 to $20 to fit your vibe. Aftercare is available starting at $5.

What types of piercings can I get at Five Below?

five below offers earlobe piercings using various surgical stainless steel, 24kt gold plated, and 14kt gold earrings. Cartilage piercings may be offered in select stores.

How many piercings can I get at once?

How much time should I wait between piercings?

You should wait at least 6 weeks with traditional aftercare, and at least 3 weeks for the 2-in-1 advanced aftercare (as long as the piercing is no longer sensitive).

What’s the difference between piercing and fashion jewelry?

piercing earrings have a pointed post for piercing, and they are sterilized and sealed in disposable cartridges. fashion earrings are for healed piercings and to transition into after newly pierced ears have healed.

How old do I need to be to get my ears pierced at Five Below? Does a parent or guardian need to be there?

All ear-piercing recipients must be 5 years or older for lobe piercings, or, 13+ for cartilage (available in select stores) with parental or legal guardian consent.

What are the earrings made of?

STUDEX earrings are made in the USA and are made with medical grade surgical stainless steel, 24kt gold-plated and 14kt gold. All earring backings are either surgical stainless steel or 24kt gold-plated.

Is your jewelry safe for sensitive ears?

Yes! STUDEX earrings are hypoallergenic, nickel safe & made specifically for the most sensitive ears.

How long will my piercing take to heal?

The application time when using traditional STUDEX aftercare solution is 6 weeks for ear lobe piercings and 12 weeks for cartilage piercings. For advanced aftercare solution, the application time is 3 weeks for ear lobe piercings and 8 weeks for cartilage piercings.

How can I take care of my piercings?

Using clean hands and without removing earrings, apply aftercare to the front and back of each earlobe twice daily. Gently slide your earrings back and forth, then rotate them in a circle. repeat this process for 6 weeks with traditional aftercare, 3 weeks for the 2-in-1 Advanced aftercare.

When can I change my earring?

If using traditional aftercare, most should be able to transition into fashion earrings after 6 weeks.
If using 2-in-1 advanced aftercare, most should be able to transition into fashion earrings after 3 weeks as long as the ear is no longer sensitive.
